OPT INC was founded in 2002 by owner and president, Ignazio Cancellieri. He was born in Asti Italy and operated a custom shoe repair and orthopedic shoe retail store with his father Carmelo. There he learned all about shoe wear and custom construction of shoes and braces.

In 1990, Ignazio came to Rochester New York for a vacation, where he decided to study pedorthics, thus owning and operating three orthopedic shoe facilities.

In 1996, he was certified in Pedothics and began working at the University of Rochester Strong Memorial Hospital as head Pedorthist, running the orthoclinic for 4 years.

In 2002, Ignazio decided that he could help patients with all their needs by creating a one-stop-shop facility, OPT INC (Orthotic and Prosthetic Technologies).

In 2004, Ignazio received Board Orthotist Certified (BOC) and American Board for Certification in Orthotics (ABC) credentials.

Carmelo Cancellieri born in Sicily Italy has been a custom shoemaker since he was a young boy in Italy, he worked with his father that was also a custom shoemaker. In Italy ASTI he owned and ran his own facility making shoes and repairs for 22 years. He came to America in 1993 to work for his son Ignazio Cancellieri in his pedorthic facility in Brockport and in Perinton New York, making orthotics and custom shoes plus all shoe modifications.

In 2002 when Ignazio started OPT INC Carmelo started work as a tech doing the same work as we did at the other facilities and making back braces and all braces modifications.

Paolo Gatto born in Rochester NY graduated at Greece Athena in 2002 and has been studying pedothics for 3 years at OPT INC with Ignazio Cancellieri C.PED BOC Orthotist. Took courses in New York and Syracuse NY.

Paolo is now in 2005 eligible to take to Pedorthic test in November.
Paolo has been working as a fitter at OPT INC since he graduated and has been fitting back, neck, knee braces and all off the shelf products. Paolo is now learning to make all custom foot orthotics and shoe modifications and will be head pedorthist in charge of all foot and ankle problems once he passes his test in November.
